FEDMAP Project Summary
FOQUS-LA (Focus on Quaternary Stratigraphy of the Los Angeles Region): a Geologic Framework to Address Groundwater Resource and Seismic Hazards Issues
To understand the geology of the Los Angeles area and how it influences earthquake hazards and the availability and contamination of ground water.
This project is developing a detailed geologic, hydrologic, and tectonic framework for the Los Angeles area that is being used to address (1) ground-water resource management, (2) the underground behavior and remediation of natural and industrial contaminants, (3) earthquake potential of local faults, and (4) distribution of past earthquake effects.
