Geologic Map of the Pahranagat Range
- The Geologic Map of the Pahranagat Range 30’ x 60’ quadrangle report has been posted. The Pahranagat Range lies within an arid, sparsely populated part of Lincoln and Nye Counties, southeastern Nevada. Much of the area is public land that includes the Desert National Wildlife Range, the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, and the Nellis Air Force Base. - Celebrating the international year of the planet. Join thousands of soil, agronomy, crop, and related sciences professionals for a program featuring thousands of scientific papers, hundreds of exhibits, lectures from the leaders in these fields, and special events. Students, professionals, and media from all over the world will all find something useful, informative, and valuable at these first-ever joint Annual Meetings. The event will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Geological Society of America, Soil Science Society of America, American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Studies with the Gulf Coast Section of SEPM, have joined together for this joint meeting to highlight and stimulate discussions in areas of common interest across the diversity of disciplines and organizations represented by our members. Areas of mutual interest include Energy, Water Resources, Education, and Earth Systems, to name a few. The meeting is hosted by the Houston Geological Society.

Distribution of Igneous Rocks in Medina and Uvalde Counties, Texas, as Inferred from Aeromagnetic Data
- A high-resolution aeromagnetic survey was flown in 2001 over Medina and Uvalde Counties, Texas, as part of a multi-disciplinary investigation of the geohydrologic framework of the Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas. The objective of the survey was to assist in mapping structural features that influence aquifer recharge and ground-water flow. The survey revealed hundreds of magnetic anomalies associated with igneous rocks that had previously been unmapped. This report presents an interpretation of the outcrops and subcrops of igneous rocks, based upon procedures of matched-filtering and potential field modeling.

Geologic Map of the Camas Quadrangle
- The Camas 7.5' quadrangle is in southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon approximately 20 km east of Portland. The map area, bisected by the Columbia River, lies on the eastern margin of the Portland Basin, which is part of the Puget-Willamette Lowland that separates the Cascade Range from the Oregon Coast Range. This map is a contribution to a program designed to improve geologic knowledge of the Portland Basin region of the Pacific Northwest urban corridor, the densely populated Cascadia forearc region of western Washington and Oregon.

Geologic Map of the San Luis Quadrangle
- Geologic Map of the San Luis Quadrangle, Costilla County, Colorado By Michael N. Machette, Ren A. Thompson, and Benjamin J. Drenth The map area includes San Luis and the primarily rural surrounding area. San Luis, the county seat of Costilla County, is the oldest surviving settlement in Colorado (1851). Machette and Thompson based this geologic map entirely on new mapping, whereas Drenth supplied geophysical data and interpretations.

Revised Geologic Map of the Fort Garland Quadrangle, Colorado
- Revised Geologic Map of the Fort Garland Quadrangle, Costilla County, Colorado By Alan R. Wallace and Michael N. Machette The map area includes Fort Garland, Colo., and the surrounding area. The primary geologic hazards in the map area are from earthquakes, landslides, and localized flooding. The Central Sangre de Cristo fault zone shows evidence for latest Pleistocene to possible early Holocene movement. The landslides may have seismogenic origins; that is, they may be stimulated by strong ground shaking during large earthquakes. This revised geologic map is based on previous mapping by Wallace (1997) and new mapping, primarily of the Quaternary deposits, by Machette.
